Addressing a press conference here, Jakhar said the news report in which it was mentioned that “Badal sought immediate settlement of the CCL row, once for all,” ,Jakhar, who is also chief spokesperson of the state Congress, asked why the CM did not take up the SYL canal issue with the Prime Minister?

“On April 18, Badal himself claimed that the CCL issue was resolved and even claimed a ‘clean chit’ to the state by the Union government on the issue. It seems that validity of the “clean chit’ was just for three months. Moreover, Badal has not called on Modi and Jaitely, it appears that he was summoned to clarify his government’s stand in the foodgrains stock scam,” said Jakhar.

The Congress leader said the CM was also lying that when he met the PM on Wednesday, a committee was constituted by the Centre to look into the CCL dispute of Punjab.

“This committee was formed a few days ago and the media has already reported it. What was the new outcome of CM’s meeting with PM now?” he asked.

Jakhar said the chief minister had several opportunities to rake up the controversial SYL issue either with Jaitley or Modi on their recent visits to Punjab, but Badal conspicuously remained silent on the issue.
