Former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday hailed the victory of BJP in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh polls describing the results as a victory of the “development wave” started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 90-year-old Akali stalwart congratulated Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah and the party’s leaders and workers who worked hard to ensure victory.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal described the victories of the BJP in Gujarat and Himachal Pardesh as “a forceful mandate for development” and an endorsement of the strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Congratulating the Prime Minister, he added that the results showed a strong Modi wave continued across the country and there was no leader in India today who can match his stature and reach.
