Bhai Veer Singh birthday to observed as Punjabi Language Day

To commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Punjab poet and scholar of Punjabi literature Bhai Veer Singh on December 5, Giani Ditt Singh academic organisation and Bhai Veer Singh chair of Punjabi University have decided to celebrate this day as "Punjabi language day" at Sunny Oberoi Auditorium at the university.

Organisation head Jagtaar Singh Jandukke said Bhai Veer Singh was a treasure of the Punjabi language who had worked hard for the revival of Punjabi literary traditions. Discussing the UNESCO report of the diminishing significance of various languages across the world, Jandukke said every country was making all possible efforts to preserve their languages and cultural roots.
