The 'bhog' of 'akhand paath' (continuous recitation of Gurbani) in memory of the 13 students of Akal Academy who were killed in a road mishap on March 3, was held in the Golden Temple complex here on Monday.
The 'akhand paath' had commenced on Saturday and the 'bhog', followed by 'ardas', was performed at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga Sahib at the Akal Takht. The children, who were 4 to 11 years of age, had died when their school bus rammed into a truck near Nakodar on March 3
Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar and several other members and officials of the SGPC attended the 'bhog'.
The jathedar appealed to the managements of educational institutions to ensure the safety of students by holding regular counselling sessions for drivers and conductors of buses and vans that ferry students. He said the school managements should specifically instruct drivers to abide by safety norms and not indulge in speeding.
