The BJP opposes any kind of direct or indirect support to the construction of Operation Bluestar memorial and was not in favour of honouring Balwant Singh Rajoana, a convict on death penalty in the assassination of former chief minister Beant Singh.

BJP national vice-president and in charge of party affairs in the state, Shanta Kumar, said that these views had been conveyed to its alliance partner SAD. Shanta was in Jalandhar to participate in the party's 'jail bharo' agitation on Friday.

"I request all the political parties not to revisit the days of terrorism, because the state has earned the peace after a long struggle," he said.

He was evasive on what will be the BJP's course of action, if the SAD decided to stick to its stand on the two issues.
