Will issue 97k MGNREGA job cards in Gurdaspur, Pathankot: CM Amarinder

Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday announced a series of projects to create health and education infrastructure besides providing new job cards under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for the development of border areas of Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts.
During his speech at the state-level Independence Day function here, the CM said 67,000 and 30,000 MGNREGA cards will be issued to beneficiaries in Gurdaspur and Pathankot. He announced air connectivity to Pathankot with flights to be made operational by September 30.
The CM announced a state-of-the-art new bus stand in Gurdaspur at Rs 20 crore. Rs 84 crore has been set aside for providing toilets and water connections to all rural households in the district, he said.
He also announced Rs 2.5 crore for infrastructure upgrade at police stations in Gurdaspur, Batala and Pathankot.
Stressing the importance of ensuring the progress of the sensitive border areas, the CM announced Rs 44 crore for health infrastructure upgrade and Rs 118 crore for school infrastructure upgrade in Gurdaspur. Another Rs 45 crore was allocated for disbursement under the old age pension scheme, besides Rs 7 crore for the ‘Ashirwad’ scheme, he said.
He announced the construction of a new Sainik School’ at Dalla Gorian village in the district.
Besides, Rs 67 crore outlay for urban facelift of Pathankot and another Rs 42 crore for urban facelift of Batala, he announced setting up of a PEPSICO bottling plant at Pathankot, where link roads would be repaired at a cost of Rs 55 crore.
The CM said announced a Navodya Vidyalaya at Fatehgarh Churian, a new revenue sub-division and a degree college at Kalanaur.
Later, the CM also inaugurated the newly built district administrative complex in Gurdaspur constructed at Rs 50 crore.
