Amarinder urged police to initiate strict action against the Akalis, who attacked the Congress workers, while blaming the Congressmen for the raid.

He claimed that following a tip-off, police seized nearly 1,000 littre of illicit liquor from allegedly the house of Akali sarpanch Dayal Singh and others at Bhangwan village. "Later, when it turned out that they were Akali workers, police let them off," claimed Amarinder.

The former chief minister added that on being released from jail, these Akali workers vented their anger on Congress workers, blaming them for providing the tip-off to police. "This only vindicated the Congress party's stand that the Akalis were patronising drug peddlers and illegal liquor trade.

Not surprising that this is happening in the constituency of revenue minister Bikram Majithia," he remarked.
