They were demanding arrest of the residents of houses around a place of worship, against whom one of their representatives Rajiv Gill had lodged a case under Sections 295 (defiling place of worship) 298 (uttering words that hurt religious feelings) 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) 427 ( mischief) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

On Thursday, members of the other community had besieged the Civil Lines police station demanding the arrest of Gill.

However, the police, who have registered two separate cases, one against the pastor and his wife on the complaint of Anita, a resident of Sarhadi Complex, and the other against Rattan Lal, Rahul, Amit, Bhaga Ram and Gogi under identical sections on the complaint of Gill, are yet to make any arrests.

There is, reportedly, a dispute on 300 square yards land belonging to the place of worship, on which, some members of the other community have built their houses.

The community has charged the pastor with getting a false case registered against some residents having their houses in the vicinity, when they refused to succumb to his pressure for converting their religion.

Civil lines police station inspector Sanjeev Kumar said that the matter was being investigated.
