Mann has submitted his resignation letter to Pratap Singh Bajwa, president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) claiming that the party top brass made changes even though the list was finalised.

According to information, candidates of wards 21 and 49 were changed.

As per the list issued on Tuesday with the consent of Mann, city president Sanjeev Bugga and former chairman of municipal council Balbir Raja Sodhi, Agam Prashar was proposed to contest from ward 49 and Ashok Chadha was to contest from ward 21. They have now been replaced with Ashwini Sharma and Vijay Sondhi respectively.

Sources said that due to factionalism within the party, Sodhi allegedly made changes to the final list. “We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour by the party due to which I along with other party workers have decided to resign from our posts,” Mann said. However, Sodhi said that the changes have been made by the high command from Chandigarh.
