Expelled Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar on Friday claimed that some Congress leaders, along with Akalis, were involved in the drug racket.

Brar alleged that state Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh had “dug the Congress’s graveyard” by being in league with the Badals on the issue. “Amarinder must answer why he had opposed a CBI probe into the drug scam. Akalis had also opposed it as some of their leaders were involved. Amarinder rejected the demand for the CBI probe at the instance of the Badals,” he said.
Brar was here to galvanise support for his rally at Chappar Chiri in SAS Nagar on May 22.
Asked to elaborate his claims that Congress leaders were involved in the drug trade, Brar said the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary, while the names of two other leaders had also cropped up. “Congress leaders are partners of Akalis in the drug trade,” he alleged.
Brar claimed that Amarinder had gone abroad for holidaying and getting donations. “He should have rather stayed here and launched a protest over non-payment to farmers for the wheat procured,” he said.
