Cop shot by kin in Rohtak

A 45-year-old assistant sub-inspector was shot dead by his relatives over an alleged land dispute in Baiyanpur village, Sonepat district, on Wednesday.

A 45-year-old assistant sub-inspector was shot dead by his relatives over an alleged land dispute in Baiyanpur village, Sonepat district, on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sushil Kumar, who was posted at the office of the inspector general of police in Rohtak. According to the police, Kumar had gone to his native village on Wednesday.

His nephew Sahil and two others had opened fire at him when he was coming out of his home. While hurriedly escaping from the crime spot, the accused left behind their motorcycle.

Kumar, who was rushed to the civil hospital for treatment, was declared brought dead. Police said that a case of murder had

been registered against the accused, adding, “Land dispute seems to be the trigger behind the incident.”
