Cop ‘spotted having sex’, thrashed by public, booked for obscenity
A departmental probe is now on against ASI Sanjeevan Kumar, who was reportedly seen by some locals when he was having sex with the married woman with whom he allegedly has an affair for long, sources said. ASI Sanjeevan too is married and has two children.
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Punjab police received a thrashing at the hands of the public after he was allegedly found in a “compromising position” with a woman from Amritsar in the living quarters of the police post — of which he is -incharge — at Sabhra village, 30 km from the district headquarters Tarn Taran, on Monday.
A departmental probe is now on against ASI Sanjeevan Kumar, who was reportedly seen by some locals when he was having sex with the married woman with whom he allegedly has an affair for long, sources said. ASI Sanjeevan too is married and has two children.
The villagers who thrashed him even made a video that went viral on WhatsApp. Superintendent of police (SP) Tilak Raj and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sohan Singh had to reach the spot and save the ASI. The sadar police of Patti sub-division took the couple into custody.
Members of Kisan Sangharsh Committee (KSC), a farmer union, also reached the spot and staged a dharna outside the police post, seeking “strict action” against the ASI and the woman.
“A case under section 294 (obscene acts) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the ASI and the woman at the Patti police station,” said SP Tilak Raj.
