In a joint statement issued by the office bearers of CPI comrade Kartar Singh Bowani, Arun Mitra, DP Maur and comrade Ramesh Rattan, 'When these colonies were established, why did GLADA not take any action. Now when the people have bought the land and built their houses, the authority is warning people not to buy land in these colonies.'

They also said the private colonies are coming up as the Punjab government have no housing policy for common people.

Leaders also adviced GLADA to build the houses for common people and allot them through lottery system. The auction system should be discontinued as only rich people buy land or other properties in auction.
