Crop production training concludes at Punjab Agricultural University

A three- month training programme on crop production concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Wednesday. As many as 31 rural youths from various parts of Punjab participated in the course.

The chief guest, PS Aulakh, additional director of extension education, exhorted the participants to make maximum contribution to the food grain production. He advised the trainees to participate in the PAU training programmes regularly and maintain close liaison with the university subject-matter specialists for farm updates.

Course coordinator TS Riar said the three-month training course is organised twice a year by the PAU wherein knowledge on various agriculture aspects is imparted to the trainees. During this course, experts dwelt on cultivation of horticultural crops, dairy farming, beekeeping, mushroom growing and vegetable cultivation alongwith their insect-pest and disease management, he said. The rural youths also visited the farms of progressive farmers for practical experience, he added.
