SSP Sukhdev Singh Chahal was suspended. A high-level inquiry has been ordered which would be led by deputy commissioner and IGP.

People got agitated when they came to know that cows were slaughtered and their bones used for drug manufacturing. The mob went on rampage and set the factory on fire, police said.

Security was tightened and curfew has been imposed, police said and added that the situation was tense but under control.

Several majority community organisations from neighbouring village also held protests.
