Shers dominated the possession and also managed to create numerous chances, but were found wanting in front of the goalmouth.
Delhi capitalised on home team's mistake to pump two quick goals and secure first points of the season. Delhi cancelled out the lead before Gurwinder Singh struck the all-important winner in the 63rd minute.
Earlier, Sher's went ahead through a 22nd minute strike from Mathew Hotchkis. Controlling the proceedings in the first half the home team stitched attacks at will only to see other forwards fumbling.
Deepak Thakur failed to score twice from close range, while Gagan Ajit miscued his reverse shot against open cage.
