Demanding the arrest of Navjyoti's in-laws, who were booked under Section 304-B (dowry death) of the Indian Penal Code after her brother alleged that she was being harassed for dowry, the agitators raised slogans against the police for over two hours.

The protest ended after additional deputy commissioner of police-1 Naresh Dogra assured immediate arrest of the four accused.

Najyoti's brother Chetan Sharma had alleged that on Thursday afternoon, he had taken his sister to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences after her in-laws told him that she was suffering from dengue fever.

However, she succumbed at the institute, where doctors allegedly told the family that Navjyoti had been given some poisonous substance.

The accused, Navjyoti's husband Gagandeep, his parents Tarsem Lal and JiwanAsha and sister Deepika, have been absconding since Friday.
