Among his priorities areas are the issues related to implementation of Infant Death Review, reduction in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR), establishment of newborn care and stabilisation units and improvement of sex-ratio in the state.
Meanwhile, Dr Jatinder Kaur, principal, State Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Phase 6, SAS Nagar, has taken over as director, family welfare, Punjab, in addition to the post of principal of SIHFW. She had served at GMSH, Sector 16, Chandigarh, as a senior gynaecologist. She had also remained medical superintendent of Mata Kaushalaya Hospital, Patiala, and thereafter civil surgeon of Patiala and Ajitgarh districts.
