Drugs recovered from 2 jail inmates

The Ludhiana Central jail staff seized smack, narcotic powder and 175 sedative pills from two inmates on Wednesday evening, after the accused were trying to smuggle the narcotics into the jail, after a court appearance. The contraband was hidden in their underwear and the police got wind of it, when the inmates struggled to walk into the jail.

The contraband was hidden in their underwear and the police got wind of it, when the inmates struggled to walk into the jail.

Assistant superintendent at Ludhiana Central Jail Shadi Ram stated that the accused had got the drugs from someone during the court hearing.

He added that a case under Section 21, 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused, identified as Harkinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh at police station division number 7.
