Senior superintendent of police Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the trio identified as Gurdit Singh, Rajeev Kumar and Krishan Chand were caught on the basis of secret information available with Malerkotla police.
Sidhu said the police confiscated 80 notes of 1,000 denominations and 344 notes of 500 denominations besides two motorcycles were also seized from their possession.
Sidhu added during interrogation, the accused have confessed that they had already supplied around Rs 25 lakh worth fake currency in the market in the past one and a half year.
"The accused used to sell fake currency worth Rs 1 lakh for Rs 70,000 and often brought it from Bihar resident who has been identified as Chandan Mandal," he said.
He added the accused also confessed to deliver fake currency to Ram Singh and Jimmy, both residents of Sangrur and Patiala, respectively.
"We have taken the accused on police remand to extract more information," Sidhu said.
