Families of 829 ex-soldiers given financial help

Families of as many as 829 ex-servicemen have been provided with total financial help of Rs 66.88 lakh under different schemes by district Sainik Welfare department, Kapurthala deputy commissioner Alaknanda Dayal said today.

Families of as many as 829 ex-servicemen have been provided with total financial help of Rs 66.88 lakh under different schemes by district Sainik Welfare department, Kapurthala deputy commissioner Alaknanda Dayal said on Wednesday.

"Three cadets, who got admitted in National Defence Academy at Dehradun, were provided with financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh. Another Rs 4 lakh were distributed as ex-gratia to dependents of two soldiers," she said in a press release.

The department had also distributed Rs 33.72 lakh to 73 gallantry award winning soldiers from the district.

From the flag fund of the department, Rs 1.45 lakh was distributed to 29 widows whereas kin of 21 ex-soldiers were allotted tubewell connections on priority basis, she said.
