Family friend rapes teengirl, gets her pregnant

Victim found she was pregnant three months late, and finally shared the matter with her mother.

A 17-year-old girl has accused her family friend of raping her for three months, leaving her pregnant.

The accused has been identified as Tony Kumar, a resident of Inderpuri, Tajpur Road.

The victim, who lives with her mother in Charan Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, told the police that her mother considered Kumar a brother. As such he was a frequent visitor to their house.

Around three months ago, Kumar found her alone at home, and raped her. He threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to her mother, putting her in a quandary.

When she recently realised she was pregnant, she finally shared the matter with her mother, who took her to the police.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Swarn Singh, who is investigating the case, said efforts were on to arrest the accused. A case under Section 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused.
