The woman was admitted to the hospital on January 21. She was in a critical condition and later put on a ventilator. Dr Ramesh Bhagat, district epidemiologist, said the woman was a resident of Ferozepur and was suffering from swine flu after which she was admitted to the DMCH.

He said the woman died on Monday and her family members were quarantined after her report said she was suffering from swine flu.

Dr Ramesh said 10 persons have been so far detected positive with swine flu and eight deaths have been reported in Ludhiana district. He said with temperature plummeting, cases of swine flu are also expected to increase.
