The Daba police have booked supporters of Akali candidate from Ludhiana South Hira Singh Gabria for allegedly attacking Lok Insaaf Party leader Simarjeet Singh Bains and vandalising his car on Friday night.

Bains, who is the fray from Atam Nagar, escaped unhurt after his security guard Sunil Kumar opened fire in the air.

Akali worker Arvinder Singh and 20 others have been booked under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Sunil’s complaint. While Arvinder has been arrested, others are yet to be identified.

SAD workers, however, alleged Bains’ supporters pelted stones at Gabria’s office and even shattered one of the windowpanes. They also alleged the supporters of opening fire in the air. Sub-inspector Baljit Singh said police are probing the cross-complaint.
