Foreign nationals ineligible to contest NRI Sabha polls

After the ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had directed the state government to take appropriate action in “controversial” election of a British citizen, Kamaljit Singh Hayre as president of NRI Sabha, Punjab more than two years ago, the Punjab NRI affairs department has finally announced that the foreign nationals would not be eligible to contest election for the sabha presidentship in future.
