Members of the field workers union of the forest department staged a protest in front of the office of the divisional forest officer in support of their demands on Monday.

Members of the field workers union of the forest department staged a protest in front of the office of the divisional forest officer in support of their demands on Monday. The chairman of the union, Suresh Sharma, said the field staff that is recruited on a casual basis by the contractor had not been paid their salaries for the past six months and the contractor was resorting to unnecessary retrenchment of the workforce.

Sharma said there were directions that the salary of every employee should be deposited in their bank accounts but the contractor was not obeying the directions and the field staff was being paid less.
