In a major relief to owners of nearly 3,400 commercial properties under the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), the board is all set to start ‘tatkal’ service from December 23.
As per the service, the commercial properties will be transferred within seven working days on request. The allottees will have to pay Rs 1 lakh for the transfer of convenient shops and small booths and Rs 2 lakh for bay shops/ shops cum flat.
Earlier, the allottees had to wait for nearly six months to get their properties transferred.
Speaking to HT, CHB chairman Maninder Singh said, “We will place the agenda in the governing body meeting on December 22. We will start the service from December 23. This is being done to avoid harassment to the allottees.”
He said, an applicant shall apply under ‘tatkal’ service for the transfer of commercial units in his/her/their name with duly completed documents in all respects as per the checklist given in the citizen’s charter.
In September this year, the board had already started ‘tatkal service for all residential transfer cases. The board is charging a fee of Rs 50,000 for ‘tatkal’ services for property transfers within five working days, including the day of application. This service is applicable only for the high-income group HIG category.
The members at the governing body meeting on December 22 will also discuss the issue to allow the subsequent transfer of commercial units under the general power of attorney (GPA).
Speaking with HT, a senior CHB official said that on the lines of dwelling units, the board has proposed that the cases where the commercial units have been transferred by the board under the GPA transfer policy, mutual transfer policy or blood relation transfer policy, and the transferee has further sold the unit under the GPA transaction, such transactions be regularised under the GPA transfer policy, subject to the payment of stamp duty and registration fee as per law.
