Girl ends life after failing in exams

A second year BCA student committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her house in Talwara on Tuesday, after she failed to clear compartment exams. Twenty-one-year-old Maninder Kaur, daughter of a Bhakra Management Beas Board (BBMB) employee, locked herself in a room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan in the afternoon.

A second year BCA student committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her house in Talwara on Tuesday, after she failed to clear compartment exams. Twenty-one-year-old Maninder Kaur, daughter of a Bhakra Management Beas Board (BBMB) employee, locked herself in a room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan in the afternoon. The family had to break open the room to retrieve the body. On the statement of her father Manit Singh, the police initiated inquest proceedings.

Meanwhile, a married woman Satwinder Kaur of Sehjowal village also committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling. She was a mother of two.

Her father alleged that she was harassed by her in-laws. On his complaint, Bulhowal police have registered an abetment to suicide case against the deceased's husband and in-laws.
