His mother, Jasvir Kaur, said he had been booked in a false case of molestation. Later, the complainant woman filed an affidavit with the police retracting her statement, she said.

In order to get a government job on compassionate grounds after the death of his father, Joga Singh required a no-objection certificate. Jagraon city police station in-charge inspector Jaswinder Singh Khaira, however, demanded Rs 1 lakh for cancelling the case and issuing the certificate, said the mother.

The inspector has refuted the allegations.

KIN BLOCK ROAD

Demanding a case against the guilty cops, Joga Singh’s family blocked a road near the bus stand for several hours on Tuesday. Superintendent of police Bahadur Singh reached the spot and pacified the protesters.
