The state government submitted the information to the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday during the hearing of a petition by The Herald Cooperative Group Housing Society, Panchkula, challenging the state government’s decision of allotting plots without even receiving any earnest money.

The case came up for hearing on Thursday before the division bench headed by justice Surya Kant and was adjourned for submission of status report by the state government on May 1.

The government had recommended allotment of plots to the members of Parliament and legislative assembly on the pretext that during state assembly sessions accommodating legislators was a difficult due to lack of sufficient accommodation in Chandigarh and Panchkula.

But later after going through the state government replies, the high court had found that there was sufficient accommodation with the state government in Chandigarh as well as Panchkula to even accommodate all its 90 legislators at the same time. The court had directed the state to see if there was any possibility of reviewing its decision.
