The directions came on a public interest litigation filed by Rohit Garg of Naujawan Welfare Society, Bathinda, seeking directions to the BDA and SSP to register a criminal case against the owners of a recently constructed godown since the owners had not taken a no-objection certificate from the BDA.

The court was informed that despite the BDA's repeated directions, owners of the godown did not stop construction and handed over the godown to the Punjab Grains Procurement Corporation (Pungrain) on lease after completion.

At the same time, the SSP did not take any action in the case on the request of the BDA for registering a criminal case.
