HC notice to Haryana govt on vacant posts of members in consumer courts
The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday issued notice to the Haryana government on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking direction to the state to fill up vacant posts in consumer courts. Petitioner Sukhvinder Singh Nara has submitted that twelve posts of members in district consumer disputes redressal fora in the state have been lying vacant since November 2013.

Petitioner Sukhvinder Singh Nara has submitted that twelve posts of members in district consumer disputes redressal fora in the state have been lying vacant since November 2013.
The petitioner submitted that the as per rules, the process of appointment of members should be initiated at least three months before the vacancies arose, but in this case, the posts were lying vacant since November 2013 and the government, after issuing advertisements in January 2014, had failed to fill up these posts.
The division bench comprising justice SK Mittal and justice HS Judhu, while hearing the petition on Tuesday, issued notice to the state government for April 21 and sought replies within a week.
