Housing project for poor to be launched in Sirsa today

The union minister for housing and urban poverty alleviation Girija Vyas would on Friday launch the Rajiv Awas Yojna in Sirsa district, under which 2,100 houses would be constructed for the urban poor.

Stating that the function would be presided over by Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, an official release said that 2,016 houses would be constructed near Kanganpur village and 128 houses would be built in Khaja Khera near the auto market.

The carpet area for one house would be 25.61 square metres on which a drawing room, a bed room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and balcony would be constructed.

The release said that a plan had been made to construct 7,474 houses in the state under Rajiv Awas Yojna on which `765.95 crore would be spent. There was a plan to construct maximum of 3,008 houses in Sirsa, it said and added that this would be a step towards making Sirsa a slum-free city.
