“Your party, either under your or under your son’s instructions, has launched a false and malicious propaganda against me to discredit my selfless work of seeking justice for the 1984-riot victims,” Phoolka wrote, adding: “Rumours have been spread that I have withdrawn the case against main accused Jagdish Tytler; and that a witness, Jasbir Singh, was to come to India to depose on April 3. It is false and baseless.”

Terming the rumours a conspiracy against him, Phoolka accused the SAD “and its cronies” of trying to malign his image in contrast to the appreciation he had won from Badal for his commitment to the cause.
