Parveen Kumar Gupta, 53, was found lying unconscious at the bus stand in the morning and was rushed to a hospital where he remained in the state when this report was filed.

The industrialist, who owns an automobile parts factory at Industrial Area, was returning from Delhi after collecting payments and was carrying Rs 3.5 lakh besides other valuables that are also missing.

“At 10 pm on Thursday he informed us that he is coming back to Ludhiana,” said Gupta's brother, Suresh Kumar.
However, the family received a call the next morning that Gupta has been lying at the bus terminus.

“The caller has told us that he has found mobile phone in the pocket of my brother and informed us about it. We rushed him to a private hospital,” said Suresh.

Police suspect that Gupta was offered eatables that were laced with sedatives before being robbed.

They said they have begun investigations, but are waiting for a formal complaint to register an FIR. Incharge of the bus stand police post, assistant sub-inspector Kulwant Chand, said the police is also waiting for Gupta to regain consciousness and narrate the event.
