In a press release issued here, the jathedar said due to the ongoing unrest in the Valley, movement of Sikh families has been restricted and there is concern over the safety of Sikh women.

He said it has become tough for them to even go out to buy household items in the curfew-bound Kashmir.

“The J&K government has failed to help them (Sikh families)... The Centre and Punjab government should come forward and help those stuck there,” he said.

The jathedar also asked J&K gurdwara committees and Sikh families to stay united and told the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the Delhi body to stand by the community members in the Valley.
