The accused has been identified as Naresh Kumar, a resident of Bhaini Mahato village under under Meham police station of the district.
Police said that the girl (20) was on her way to attend the Junior Basic Training College at nearby Bhaini Maharajpur village on Friday, when the accused offered her lift on his motorcycle to drop her at the college.
However, he took the girl to a secluded place near Meham bus stand and raped her. To "silence the victim" from exposing his crime, the accused administered her poison, police said.
The victim was later found in an unconscious state at the spot of crime and was rushed to hospital. On the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's family, police booked the accused on charges of rape, kidnapping and attempt to murder under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
