Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday said that AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal had distorted the former’s statement on the reservation issue, clarifying that he meant reservations also for economically weaker sections instead of only for the poor.

“Kejriwal has only vindicated his stand that he (Kejriwal) is a congenital liar who lies shamelessly without any remorse,” Amarinder said in a statement here.
Asserting that the economically weaker sections also deserved reservation benefits along with the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes, the Punjab Congress chief asked Kejriwal to clarify his stand on the issue.
“Instead of beating around the bush, make your stand clear whether you support the reservation for economically weaker sections from among the general categories or not,” he asked the Delhi CM, adding, “From your statements, you are clearly against the economically weaker sections from the upper castes and general categories.”
Amarinder said Kejriwal was “deliberately telling a lie” that if economically weaker sections from the general castes were provided reservations, these would be taken away from the SC/ST/OBC quota.
