Khadoor Sahib: Key factors
Here's a look into the key factors of this constituency
Drugs: Congress candidate Harminder Singh Gill is responsi-ble for bringing this key issue to the centrestage. On his poll post-ers, Gill has made it clear that his campaign is 'nasha mukt' (drugs will not be used for woo-ing voters). The posters also indicate that Punjab is suffering due to drug addiction and easy availability of drugs.

Development: Though the Punjab government has drawn up a plan for developing religious towns in the state, a lot still has to be done in towns such as Khadoor Sahib, Tam Taran, Goindwal Sahib and Baba Bakala. Quality educational institutions and proper health care are still a dis-tant dream in border villages.
Compensation for farmers: The BJP-led NDA had introduced compensation for farmers having agricultural land between the fence and the zero line, but it was stopped by UPA govt.
Thermal plant: The Goindwal Sahib thermal plant is running behind schedule, but it's yet to be formally commissioned as coal linkage remains a major hurdle. No industry For employment generation, the area needs a cou-ple of industrial units. There is a need to revive the Goindwal Sahib Industrial Nucleus Plan.
