“The step exposes AAP’s political opportunism and the Khaira’s utter frustration. Also, on the one hand it fully exposes the political irrelevance of the Congress and on the other how hollow the claims of AAP on principled politics are,” SAD spokesman Harcharan Bains said in a statement here.

“Nothing symbolises the political cynicism of the two sides more than the fact that the two sides chose the sacred occasion of Christmas and the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas to crucify ideology and principles,” Bains said.

Targeting AAP by calling it “ideologically bankrupt”, Bains said in Punjab the party was being led by a “political drop-out” of the Akali Dal, referring to AAP’s state convener Succha Singh Chhotepur.

“No political party in the country has taken so less time to kill the very ideology on which it was founded,” Bains said.
