Ludhiana: Industrialist's driver tries to rape 14-year-old, held

A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 14-year-old girl in Urban Estate Dugri on Friday.
As the victim raised the alarm, the accused fled the scene on seeing people approach them. The accused, Manoj Kumar of Dhandhari Khurd, works as a driver for an industrialist.
The victim, a student of Class 8, lives in Urban Estate Dugri. Her father is a washerman. In her complaint, the victim stated that she was alone at home on Friday, when Manoj barged into her house and tried to rape her. When she raised the alarm, Manoj fled the scene.
Woman constable Narinder Kaur, who is investigating the case, said the accused was arrested on Saturday, adding that a case under sections 376/511 (attempt to rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the accused.
