The deceased was identified as Jivanjot Singh of Pakhowal road, son of Division Number 8 police station SHO sub-inspector Gurmeet Singh.

A syringe, spoon and powder-type substance was also recovered from the car, police said. While the police suspected that Jivanjot died of drug overdose, Gurmeet Singh alleged that his son was murdered.

Following Singh’s complaint, the Sudhar police registered a case of murder against unidentified persons under Sections 302 (murder), 328 (causing hurt by poison) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police said they also recovered phone of the deceased from the car. Deputy superintendent of police (Dakha) Jaswinder Singh said they were investigating all aspects and added that the body was sent to the civil hospital for post mortem.
