He also alleged that instead of lodging an FIR and taking action against the accused, police threw them out of police station.

Addressing a press conference, Chhabra, a resident of Industrial Area-A, said independent councillor Jasbir Singh Jassa and his son Gaurav alias Gora used to abuse him following old enmity.

He had already filed a complaint against them with director general of police (DGP), he added.

He said, “On March 10, Gora had illegally restrained his son Harbhajan Singh and thrashed him. Following this, we went to Division Number 6 police station to file a complaint, where Gora was also present. There Gora started thrashing me in front of the police. When I and my family resisted, the cops threw us out of the police station.”

Happy Chhabra then filed a complaint with police commissioner in this context on March 11.

He alleged that the police were hand in glove with the accused councillor.

Meanwhile, refuted all allegations, Jasbir Singh Jassa said, “No one has thrashed Happy Chhabra and his family members. His allegations are politically motivated.”
