City 2 station house officer (SHO) Harvinder Sra said, "We got information that this man had uploaded a picture in police uniform. So, we arrested him. His mother Beant Kaur was booked under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act in 2010, and the case was registered in City 1 police station."

A case was booked against the accused under Section 171 (wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent). However, the SHO didn't disclose the DSP's name, but revealed that the accused was close to the officer.

Bathinda deputy inspector general (DIG) Amar Singh Chahal said, "The department's cyber cell will probe the case."
