Man robbed, beaten up while trying to quell fight on road in Panchkula
The man intervened to stop the fight, but some of the men instead attacked him and fled away with his cash and mobile phone.
A 46-year-old man trying to quell a fight was thrashed and robbed of his cash and mobile phone near KC Palace, Sector 5, in Panchkula on Saturday.
The victim, Krishan Kumar Sharma said he was on his way when he saw a group of seven to eight men fighting with two men.He intervened to stop the fight, but some of the men instead attacked him and fled away with his cash and mobile phone.
“As I tried to stop the men, some of them started beating me and attacked me with a brick, causing injuries on my head and face,” Sharma alleged.
Police said one of the accused was nabbed by the public on the spot, but the others managed to flee.
Inspector Karambir Singh, station house officer said they had registered a case against unidentified persons under Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.
25-year-old robbed of gold chain, cash
Three unidentified men allegedly robbed a tailor of a gold chain and Rs 5,600 in cash near Paddy Mandi Chowk in Maloya in Chandigarh on Sunday.
The victim, Mohammad Shahid, 25, of Behlolpur village in Mohali, told the police that he was cycling back home on Saturday night. As he reached near Paddy Mandi Chowk, three men intercepted him, slapped him and snatched his gold chain and cash, before fleeing the spot.
SHO Baldev Kumar said, “So far, we haven’t got any lead on the robbers. We are looking for clues.”
A case under Sections 392 (robbery) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code Code has been registered against the unidentified accused.
