The Faridkot district and sessions judge expressed concern that there was a surge in the number of matrimonial disputes in the region, on Thursday.

Judge Archana Puri, who was addressing police officials, prosecution and judges during a seminar in Faridkot, said, "There is a surge in matrimonial disputes and many families have had to suffer due to this. The police, prosecution and the judiciary should work honestly to ensure justice. The police and prosecution should also ensure to follow the guidelines of Apex court in such disputes."
She also said the mediation center would soon be opened in Faridkot to dispose of matrimonial disputes. Mediators specially trained by the high court will hear the disputes. Staff will soon be recruited for the centre, she said.
