Maximum temperature drops below normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures in various parts of Punjab and Haryana dropped below normal on Tuesday as rains lashed several places.

Maximum temperatures in various parts of Punjab and Haryana dropped below normal on Tuesday as rains lashed several places.

Hisar in Haryana recorded the maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, said the MeT department.

Among other places, Karnal and Ambala recorded maximum temperatures of 35.8 and 33.3 degrees Celsius respectively, up six notches below normal. Ambala received 1.3 mm of rainfall.

Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal. It also received 3 mm of rainfall.

In Punjab, Ludhiana and Amritsar recorded maximum temperatures of 38.6 and 39.9 degrees Celsius respectively. Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal. It also received 16.8 mm of rainfall.

The MeT department has forecast light rains or thundershowers at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
