The chairman expressed his displeasure at the state of affairs in the MC.

"More than Rs 2.75 crore received by corporation is unspent. I don't understand the functioning style of corporation officials. Even as they claim shortage of funds, they are unable to spend the grants lying with them," Kaypee said. Kaypee directed DC Shruti Singh to coordinate with all departments to ensure that the beneficiaries get grants. He claimed that the centre had released a grant of Rs7.5 crore under the MPLAD fund.

"The utilisation certificates should be submitted in time so that further grants are released in time. Things have improved in the villages, but development villages in villages face unnecessary delay."

"Sixteen villages from the district have been chosen for the Nirmal Gram award for ensuring hygiene. I have also directed rural development department officials to prepare a report in this regard."

ADC Puneet Bhardwaj, joint commissioner Jalandhar MC Anupam Kler, Zila Parishad chairman Mahla Singh and DDPO Avtar Singh Bhullar attended the meeting.
