Mercury breaches 41°C, no respite till weekend in Chandigarh

Jumping by over two notches from the previous day, mercury breached 41°C on Tuesday. With dry and sunny weather to continue, it is likely to touch 42°C on Wednesday.

The maximum temperature recorded on Monday was 38.7°C, while at night it dropped to 27.5°C.

Relative humidity is on the decline, oscillating between 26% and 76% on Tuesday as compared to 33% and 80% the previous day.

However, the Indian meteorological department (IMD)’s local centre has predicted some respite as the week progresses. Sky will get cloudy on Friday and it might even rain over the weekend.

In fact, strong surface winds between the speeds of 30-40 km/hr are expected along with thundery development in the tricity, following which maximum temperature is expected to drop below 39°C while minimum temperature will be around 25°C.
