Led by the association’s district president Harjinder Kaur, the members held a protest here and alleged that deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal failed to fulfill his promises of increasing their wages.

Demanding that the government increase monthly salary from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,400 as Haryana government was already paying Rs 2,500 since January this year, members held that Punjab was not taking the demands seriously.

She, however, clarified that the cooks will not support the mid-day meal managers’ protest in Ropar on November 2.
